it's (still) sweater weather

It’s been so nice to see spring styles popping up all over Instagram, but the truth is that it’s still pretty much winter (at least in Chicago). The good news is that right now a lot of sweaters are either on sale or in lighter knits, so they can carry you through spring. If you’re going to buy a sweater this late in the season, I recommend either buying something trendy that’s on sale or invest in something classic. You shouldn’t spend a ton on something you might be over when fall hits.

  1. Verishop - The sleeve is just trendy enough and I love the rust color (not over it yet and I wear it all year long). Try this with a pair of high-waisted, straight, or wide-leg jeans.

  2. & Other Stories - Have you been hunting for a pretty, cozy cardigan with gold dinosaur buttons? Me neither, but now I really want one. A (very) fun layer to wear on its own or over a white tee.

  3. Modern Citizen - I love a color that doesn’t feel too much like a color. This dusty blue is just neutral enough to work with anything, but you can technically say you have color in your closet.

  4. Mango - This has been in my cart for a few days and I just need to pull the trigger. It’s soft, a little sexy, and I think could work just as well over a dress as it would with jeans.

  5. Lou & Grey - My California heart wants to wear this with jeans shorts at a summer beach bonfire, but I’d still love it under a coat in a Chicago bar.

  6. Everlane - I usually have some version of this sweater in my closet, but it’s been missing for a few years. This style is great to layer under a leather jacket during spring or tie around your waist on those chilly, early summer nights.

  7. Callahan - Tired of wearing sweaters, but too cold for t-shirts? This sweater tee is that perfect in-between for when the weather can’t make up its mind.

  8. Madewell - The feminine knit on this cardigan keeps it from going to “grandpa.” Size up for a cozier fit with skinny jeans or pair it with a super feminine dress to tone it down.

  9. Jenni Kayne - The classic investment piece. It’s cotton, which is great for people with allergies (insert hand raising emoji here), and it will be a staple you’ll wear for years.
